In 2007, the Colorado State University (CSU) System Board of Governors created the CSU Global Campus as a fully online university serving the degree completion needs of adult and nontraditional students. Initially, CSU Global only accepted students who met state requirements for transfer status, meaning it did not enroll first-time, entering college students without previous credits. In 2014, lawmakers enacted legislation allowing CSU Global to offer general education and lower division coursework. CSU Global can now enroll a broader population of bachelor’s degree-seeking adult students who meet the institution’s admissions criteria. To complement the role of the state’s community colleges and other four-year institutions, CSU Global still serves the adult, degree-seeking population; enrollees must be a minimum of 23 years old. Degree programs are subject to the approval of the Colorado Commission on Higher Education.
