Creating a veterans’ center – a base for veterans where they can not only come together and receive services, but also have the camaraderie of other veterans and the space to decompress – makes a huge difference on campus. ”
Darlene Head started with Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) in 1982 as a work study student. In the years following, Darlene began certifying veteran’s benefits and recognized veterans needed space to relax and interact within their community. With Darlene’s efforts, the award winning SLCC’s Veteran’s Center was opened in 2005 and became a model center for others to follow.
